Blizzard has officially launched a special crossover event between World of Warcraft: Midnight и Overwatch 2, timed to coincide with the release of the new expansion. Cosmetic rewards inspired by the Warcraft universe become available to Overwatch players after completing certain achievements in the MMORPG. The items appear automatically on the linked Battle.net account once the required conditions are met.
The central element of the event was the legendary appearance Xal'atath for Symmetra, which brings the aesthetics of the Void to Overwatch. The skin radically changes the heroine's appearance, adding dark visual elements characteristic of the Warcraft antagonist. To obtain it, you need to complete the "Welcome Home" achievement from the Midnight expansion, which is related to the game's new housing system.
The second major item was Legendary skin "Eater" for GenjiThis skin is inspired by the atmosphere of the new Midnight locations and reflects a darker style. It is unlocked by completing the introductory quests of the expansion's storyline and earning the "Echoes of Midnight" achievement.
In addition to the skins themselves, players receive additional cosmetic rewards—a Xal'atat-themed spray and a Dark Heart profile icon. The promotion launched alongside early access to World of Warcraft: Midnight, February 25, 2026, and the official distribution of items in Overwatch begins at midnight after the conditions are met.
Blizzard continues to actively develop its crossover strategy. A collaboration with NieR: Automata will begin on March 10, 2026, bringing new skins to Mercy, Chirico, and other heroes. Thus, 2026 is shaping up to be a period of large-scale themed events within the Blizzard ecosystem.
