Pair skating professionals Metelkina and Berulava pay homage to Mortal Kombat during Olympics Exhibition Gala

Mortal Kombat has become a cultural phenomenon since its debut in the arcades back in 1992. Even those that don't necessarily consider themselves competitive fighting game players should be able to recognize the Mortal Kombat brand at a glance.

Back during the Olympics Exhibition Gala of 2025, Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava performed a more lighthearted performance that essentially gave viewers a "Mortal Kombat On Ice" experience. The classic "Mortal Kombat" theme was playing during the first half of the segment.

Metelkina was clearly dressed as Kitana while Berulava's appearance was similar to that of Sub-Zero's. Of course, neither of the two skaters were wearing masks.

The two began by shadow boxing against one another. You can even see Berulava acting out getting hit by an uppercut from Metelkina as the two skillfully skate across the ice rink.

Eventually, Berulava is able to grab hold of Metelkina's leg. He then began to spin Metelkina around.

After putting her back down, Metelkina appeared to be in the "Finish Her" state. Rather than using a Fatality on her, Berulava instead invoked a "Friendship."

However, Metelkina ended up not returning the favor as Berulava ended up suffering a devastating Fatality in the form of Kitana's Kiss of Death.
